I love Nevada. And it's not only about Las Vegas.

It's not about Las Vegas only

I need to make a confession today. I love Reno. I love Las Vegas. And I love everything in between. This might sound like a strong statement, but in reality, it's what I actually feel. It doesn't matter if I come there to party or I'm there to disappear in the lovely view of mountains and endless picturesque landscapes. It feels good everywhere.

Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above Don't fence me in Let me ride through the wide open country that I love Don't fence me in

Virginia city, Nevada

The thing is that many people that I've talked to think that Nevada is an empty state and the only city that shines there is Las Vegas. Thankfully, it's not true at all. Nevada has much more to offer.

Camping at Washoe Lake State Park, Nevada

Wherever I went in Nevada I saw opportunities to camp almost everywhere. Those places in particular:

Washoe Lake State Park Fort Churchill State Park Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park Dayton State Park Valley of Fire State Park …and many more

You don't even need to step out much of your way to find camping options, that's what I especially like about Nevada. And many places (but not all) have a warm shower there as well, which is a perfect thing for a tired traveler.

Sierra Nevada

From the snowy Sierra Nevada mountains in the North to a desert in South. Sometimes I've wanted to ask myself how was it possible for the Mother nature to create all that.

Valley of Fire State Park

My two favorite parks in Nevada are Washoe Lake State Park and Valley of Fire State Park. They are both amazing, yet so different. The first one is beautiful and conveniently located to Reno, Carson City, and Virginia city. And the second one just blows your mind out. Red mountains look fabulous during the day and yet still visible during the night too. Oh wait, did I mentioned those starry nights in Nevada? This alone is a reason to visit this state.

Lake Tahoe

Since we talked about the Sierra Nevada a bit, let's not forget a Lake Tahoe. Most of the lake is located in California, but thankfully, it is located in Nevada too. There are plenty of options there. You can always plan your trip starting right at the border of Nevada and California and walk around as much as you want. If you are going to ski, then you should probably stay somewhere close to your ski resort. Either way, no matter where you stay you will enjoy the power of nature there.

It's all about exploring

Nevada is all about opening yourself to new places, new experiences and forcing your mind out of the office cage. I can only say for myself, but for me, it was an eye-opening experience. I understand how small my world was before I started camping and seeing the wild, open spaces.
